Start painting leather with the Angelus Leather Paint Basics Kit, a starter set that brings five core colors, brushes, and leather preparation together. Use it to plan painted bags, wallets, leather accessories, or lettering and accent work on leather helmet shields.

The small palette gives you a useful starting point for learning how colors work together. Use Black and White for contrast, paint with Red, Yellow, and Blue individually, or mix small amounts to create additional shades. Choose this kit when you need application tools alongside your first paint colors.

What Comes in the Basics Kit

  • Five 1 oz bottles of Angelus Acrylic Leather Paint: Black, White, Red, Yellow, and Blue.
  • Five assorted paint brushes.
  • One 1 oz bottle of Angelus Leather Preparer and Deglazer.

You receive one complete kit with the items listed above. Specialty additives, additional colors, and a finishing top coat are sold separately. The included paints are formulated to flex with properly prepared leather; the preparation step is part of achieving a lasting result.

Prepare Your First Leather Project

Begin with a small design and test your colors on matching scrap leather or an inconspicuous area. Follow the included Leather Preparer and Deglazer directions to prepare the surface, then allow it to dry before painting.

Shake each paint bottle, dispense a small amount onto a palette, and build coverage with thin coats. Allow 15 to 30 minutes between layers and at least 24 hours before using or flexing the finished piece. Keep a note of any color mixes you want to repeat.

Painting fabric, plastic, or another material requires checking the appropriate Angelus preparation and additive instructions. The leather preparer is not a universal treatment for every surface.
