Use a Base Coat for Brighter Color
Neon paint is more translucent than standard opaque paint, so the color beneath it affects the finished result. Angelus recommends a standard paint base coat, with a white, light, or similar color selected to suit the neon shade. Test your planned combination on matching scrap leather before painting the finished piece.
Let the base coat dry before adding the neon layers. Build the color gradually with thin coats instead of trying to cover the surface in one heavy application. A sample also helps you see how the neon works beside any standard or metallic colors in your design.
Prepare Leather and Allow Drying Time
Clean and prepare the leather according to the preparation product's directions. Shake the paint and allow 15 to 30 minutes between coats. Give the completed piece at least 24 hours before use or flexing. For fabric, airbrushing, or other materials, follow Angelus instructions for the appropriate additives and preparation.
