Shield Description
The Deuce Leather Firefighter Helmet Shield is the stylized scrollwork design for firefighters who want a traditional overall shape with more decorative movement around the central identification. Curved accents frame the face while multiple text zones support department, company, rank, assignment, name, or another short identifier.

The Deuce uses upper and lower banners, a prominent central field, and curved side details to create a more expressive face than the clean Backstep layout. Gallery examples show company identifiers, ranks, names, apparatus wording, and other department-specific arrangements across a wide range of color combinations.
Use the live preview to enter the supported wording and coordinate the leather field, borders, scroll accents, lettering, and center identifier. Review the complete design after each change because a photographed example does not automatically determine the selections included with another order.
Smooth or textured main body
Select Yes when the main leather field should receive texture, or choose No to keep it smooth. The decorative scrollwork remains part of The Deuce design language in either version. Together, these choices create a decorative scrollwork shield with a clearly defined traditional structure.
Leather, sizing, and mounting
Each shield is handmade from full-grain leather. Six height-and-width combinations are available. Measure the helmet’s shield holder before selecting a size. The finished shield ships unpunched so mounting holes can be positioned for the customer’s hardware.
The Deuce versus Backstep
Choose The Deuce when curved side scrollwork and a stylized multi-zone layout are the deciding features. For a simpler old-school rocker, large center identifier, and compact lower banner, compare the Backstep Firefighter Helmet Shield.
For a completely original department logo or artwork request that does not fit an established layout, use the Full Custom Firefighter Helmet Shield process instead. Confirm text, spelling, capitalization, colors, texture, and size in the preview before submitting the personalized order.
How to Choose the Right Size Fire Helmet Shield

- A tooled texture applied to the face of the leather. It adds visual bite and gives the shield a more aggressive, high-contrast look.
Smooth
- No surface texture added. The leather face remains flat and clean, giving the shield a sharper, more traditional appearance with full focus on layout and lettering.
Beveling/Tooling
- Hand-carved and stamped tooling with beveled detail around borders, numbers, or design elements. Adds depth and definition to the leather.

Start by matching the shield to your helmet’s holder, check alignment, and mark your hole positions before drilling or punching.
