Black and red Passport shield mounted on helmet

Passport Firefighter Helmet Shield

$85.00
Understand you will need to punch/drill through the insert to mount on your helmet. The insert screws should be checked and tightened regularly.
Shield Description

The Passport Firefighter Helmet Shield uses a main leather front with a removable, screw-mounted identification insert. Customers can order the complete shield with an insert or purchase an insert by itself for an existing Little River Customs Passport shield.

Replacement inserts are made specifically for Passport shields produced by Little River Customs. They are not represented as compatible with passport shields made by another company.

Complete shield or replacement insert

Select Shield with insert when ordering the complete Passport setup. This includes the main leather helmet shield and one customized insert.

Select Insert only when replacing or adding an insert for an existing LRC Passport shield. The main shield is not included with an insert-only selection. Confirm that the existing shield was made by Little River Customs before ordering.

Screw-mounted passport system

The identification insert attaches to the main shield with screws. This creates the layered passport-style layout and allows an LRC insert to be changed without ordering another complete main shield. The insert can display the available name, rank, company, station, radio identification, or other selected text.

Use the live preview to review the wording, colors, and layout before placing the order. Current options include several main-shield sizes and a textured or smooth leather treatment.

This product structure keeps replacement purchases separate from complete shield orders.

Sizing and mounting

The replacement insert selection still requires a size because the insert must match the corresponding LRC Passport shield configuration. Match the size to the existing shield rather than guessing.

A complete Passport shield ships unpunched so its helmet mounting holes can be positioned for the customer’s hardware. The insert hardware and helmet mounting hardware serve different purposes.

How Passport differs

Choose Passport when a removable identification insert is the deciding feature. For a fixed shield with five customizable text zones, compare The Plug Leather Firefighter Helmet Shield.

How to Choose the Right Size Fire Helmet Shield

To choose the right fire helmet shield size, measure your helmet in two spots:

  • Shield Height – Measure from the helmet brim up to the top notch on your shield holder.
  • Shield Width – Measure from outside-to-outside of the mounting posts or screws.

These two measurements tell you exactly which custom fire helmet shield size fits your lid.

Texture vs Smooth and Beveling Details

These options are not offered on every shield. When available on a design, the explanations below show what each option changes in the finished shield.

Textured

  • A tooled texture applied to the face of the leather. It adds visual bite and gives the shield a more aggressive, high-contrast look.

Smooth

  • No surface texture added. The leather face remains flat and clean, giving the shield a sharper, more traditional appearance with full focus on layout and lettering.

Beveling/Tooling

  • Hand-carved and stamped tooling with beveled detail around borders, numbers, or design elements. Adds depth and definition to the leather.

How to Mount your Fire Helmet Shield

Mounting your fire helmet shield is simple when you line it up correctly and drill or punch the holes the right way. Start by matching the shield to your helmet’s holder, check alignment, and mark your hole positions before drilling or punching. Once the hardware is secured, tighten everything evenly and break it in so it sits clean and square.

The shield turned out amazing and feels heavy duty. Can’t wait to take it to a few fires to put it through the tests

Customer photo review of Passport Shield

Wasn’t very impressed. The paint cracked substantially as soon as I flexed it just to put it on my studs. Just putting it on it rubbed against the brim and the paint rubbed off. One screw holding in the passport fell out almost immediately.

Store owner replied: This is not normal. Please email us with the order number and we will get you a new one made.

Your shield was made with a good quality, the passport however it was less than desirable. The hole that was cut out for the screws was too big so the screws constantly fall out, there is also no holes on the bottom. I ended up, drilling my own holes and getting my own screws and super gluing the screws in place.

Passport Firefighter Helmet Shield

Store owner replied: For some reason our ealier reply disapeared. The insert is meant to be drilled or punched through — this secures the bottom of the insert and the shield to the helmet. We don’t recommend using super glue on the screws, as it can cause issues when changing inserts later. When the screws are properly tightened and checked regularly, they’ll hold securely in place.

My shield looks amazing!! The time they gave for delivery was 100% accurate and it is everything I wanted.
